YÖS Exam 

It is an exam for foreign students, and it is mandatory for most Turkish public universities for foreign students who want to study in Turkish universities. Its abbreviated name is (YÖS) and its full name is YABANCI UYRUKLU ÖĞRENCI SINAVI. Tens of thousands of university students from different nationalities in Turkey take this exam every year. 

Who can apply for YÖS exam? 

- All foreign nationalities 

- Blue card holders (mavi kart) who obtained Turkish citizenship after being foreign citizens. 

- Candidates who are Turkish citizens and started their secondary education abroad. 

- Students who completed all their secondary education in a foreign country except the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

What is the TR-YÖS Exam? 

The Unified YÖS Exam or TR-YÖS is one of the university entrance exams in Turkey. It is an exam for foreigners and is not required by private universities in Turkey, but by Turkish public universities. It is conducted twice a year and is organized by ÖSYM after the YÖS exam was organized by universities. 

The Ministry of Higher Education issued a decision to have a unified YÖS exam (TR-YÖS). 

What are the sections of the YÖS exam?

The basic learning skills test, which consists of questions on logic, intelligence, mathematics, geometry, and symbolic expressions. If the student gets 85% or more in the YÖS exam, he can apply for the Faculty of Medicine, knowing that recently, after the increased competition for seats in the Faculty of Medicine in Turkey, it has become difficult to obtain a seat in medicine with a score of less than 95% in the YÖS and high school exams, in addition to the presence of some universities requiring more than 98% for human medicine, and if the student gets 70% or more in the exam, he has the right to apply for studying in engineering colleges, and for literary specializations and social sciences specializations, a score of 60% is sufficient for application, and it is known that the percentage may decrease or increase according to the results of the students applying for this exam. 

What are the conditions for applying for the YÖS exam? 

The YÖS exam does not require specific grades from the high school certificate, nor does it require the equivalence of the high school certificate to apply for the YÖS exam. Students applying for the YÖS exam must have graduated from high school or its equivalent, or have one year left to obtain a high school certificate. Students accepted from abroad are evaluated entirely according to the criteria set by the universities themselves.
